Hellos ("we") is a personal AI assistant that users interact with via text message. This policy describes how we handle your information for our SMS messaging program.
When you sign up in our app and text our number, we collect your phone number, the messages you send us, and — if you enable it in the app — location events used to power the assistant's features.
If you text us before you have access, we keep only the phone number or messaging address needed for the waitlist and your waitlist status. We discard the message body and attachments instead of creating a Hellos account or conversation history.
Place searches may use Google Maps Platform. We send the requested search terms and area (or recent location for a nearby search), without your account identifiers. Google place information is fetched for display in your message, attributed to Google Maps, and is not added to our shared map database. We retain place IDs and search references for conversation continuity and delivery. Use of these features is subject to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.
Location events you enable are processed by our AI provider together with your conversation to answer you and to notice places, under a no-training, no-retention API configuration. When you ask for nearby recommendations, we also send your current location to our search and places partners for that request only. Our places partners never receive your name, phone number, or account identifiers — only the place being checked and the search area.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your phone number and SMS opt-in consent are never sold, rented, or shared. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
By texting our number first, you consent to receive conversational messages and occasional follow-up check-ins from Hellos. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for assistance.
Conversation and location data are retained only to provide the service and are deleted on request — text us or use the app to ask. Waitlist contact information is retained until you receive access, ask us to remove it, or reply STOP; an opt-out suppression record may remain so a later message does not silently add you again. One exception: if you tell Toasty the name of a place our map data doesn't have yet, that place joins the shared map so it keeps working for everyone. Those shared entries stay, but we remove their link to you when you ask us to delete your data.
